This page is to provide information on progress made towards the purchase and running of the Village Shop and Post Office.

Following a survey of users and a public meeting, a committee was set up.

October

Negotiations to purchase the village shop and post office are underway. Progress can only be made if sufficient funds are raised from those prepared to support this exciting venture by becoming investors. You will shortly be offered an opportunity to purchase shares in the business.  This will enable you to vote on how the business is run. The Committee is seking other sources of funding and is in negotiation with grant agencies but these funds may be limited or will be available long after the deadline for purchase of the business.

A legal entity known as the Community Benefit Society is being set up with the Financial Conduct Authority.

Shortly an information pack will be available with details of the legal and financial structure of the Society and will outline the minimum and maximum you can invest and some financial projections for the future.

By becoming a shareholder:

  • you are investing in the future making sure we retain the shop and post office
  • you will be able to play a key role in the development of the business
  • you will be offered interest on your investment you will be joining an exciting business venture run by the community.
